China : Textile industry profit surge by Oct

From January to October 2006, China’s textile industry obtained an added value of 481.1 billion yuan, increasing 15.4 percent from the same time of previous year, with export delivery value of 533 billion yuan, rising 15.3 percent.

Garment industry produced 13.7 billion pieces of clothing, an increase of 12.1 percent.

Chemical fiber production registered 16.36 million tons, growing 13 percent.

The whole industry realized profits of 66.4 billion yuan, an increase of 31.1 percent.

Among them, the realized profits of textile industry, apparel industry, chemical fiber industry rose 31.9 percent, 27.7 percent and 38.6 percent, respectively.
