China : Latest cotton market survey data

According to the cotton market watching system data, which covered 1029 farmer’s households in 91 counties and cities in 11 provinces, up to November 29 2006, the surveyed farmers harvested 3466 tons cotton, accounting for 99.17 percent of the expected cotton output, up 0.59 percent from the same period last year.

They delivered 2644 tons of unginned cotton, accounting for 76.86 percent of the already harvested seed cotton, down 8.32 percent from the same time last year.

According to the survey of 94 large and medium-sized cotton processing enterprises, as of November 29, the new cotton processing of surveyed ginners was 71.04 percent (percentage of ginned new cotton volume against the total quantity of purchased cotton), an increase of 7.28 percent over the same period last year.

The average progress was 28.21 percent (percentage of new cotton sales volume against the total quantity of acquisition), up 1.86 percent on year-on-year scale.

According to a sample survey, based on the output of 6.47 million tons of the national production, as of November 29, China has acquired a total quantity of 4.93 million tons of cotton.

This represents an increase of 5.12 percent over the same period last year, with 3.5 million tons of processed lint cotton, year-on-year rise of 17.06 percent and 1.39 million tons of new cotton already sold out, an increase of 12.10 percent from the same time last year.
