Hubei provincial quality inspection bureau held a press conference on December 13 afternoon. The meeting released the results on the supervision and examination of 2006 cotton quality in Hubei.
The results showed the cotton quality in Hubei province is better than other parts in the country, and the provincial cotton grades are generally higher than last year.
However, there are still some concerns: the widespread phenomenon of mixed grades, about 20 percent lint is marked in grades higher than its actual level, chemical fibers and animal hair are found in about 12.3 percent of ginned cotton.
Experts advise growers to use cotton bags in the process of cotton plucking, dying and transportation.
