China : Woolen, leather & down garment dominate thermal clothing market

For many years, woolen, leather and down garment dominate Chinese thermal clothing market. At present, down garment’s market share is constantly increasing.

In this winter, high-priced woolen garment is sold well, low-priced woolen business is also good, but middle-priced woolen garments see tough time in markets.

Most customers choose high-priced woolen garment as a gift, and this has led to the average price to around RMB1000 a piece. While some customers prefer woolen garments get customized in weave shops; these garments are available at around RMB400 a piece.

In leather garment, which was a hot cake in late nineties, has met with cold response in recent years. The reason behind this slump is less style and more prices in this sector. Moreover, leather garment’s prices in summer are lower than the prices in winter, and hence, people choose summer to buy leather garment.

In down garment market, manufacturers put extra efforts on style and keep the prices lower than woolen and leather garment. Therefore, it attracts more customers and many clothing manufacturers are planning to enter down garment markets.
