The Union textile secretary Mr S.B. Mohapatra said that for the garment exporting units the Commerce Ministry is considering a contract labour system.
In a meeting of exporters organised by the FIEO (Federation of Indian Export Organisation) Southern Region he said Labour issues had been identified as a main disincentive to the high-export turnover sector apart from an irrational duty structure and high power bills. This plan was part of the Centre's move to simplify labour issues.
