China : Henan cotton output up 22% in 2006

According to the statistics released recently by Henan provincial Bureau of Statistics, province planted 12.0092 million mu of cotton acreage in 2006, increase of 287,100 mu. Cotton output reached 830,000 tons, a year-on-year growth of 22.6 percent (one hectare = 15 mu).

Among above-scale enterprises in the province, textile industry output value increased 14.731 billion yuan, a year-on-year surge of 21.3 percent.

Among the major industrial products and outputs in 2006, yarn output stood for 1.883 million tons, soaring 35.7 percent. Cloth output was 1.88 billion meters, a boost of 17.2 percent.
