China : Shishi quality fabrics win favor of foreign traders

With Spring Festival just round the corner, increasing number of foreign traders are visiting Shishi cloth market. Some traders from Middle East said they purposely came to buy spring and summer fabrics from Shishi market and would complete shipment before the Spring Festival.

According to Shishi City Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, last year they approved 3,100 lots of textile fabrics last year, with value of more than US $119.57 million, a year-on-year increase of 17 percent and 3 percent, respectively. These exports were mainly dyed cotton fabrics and dyed cotton blended fabrics, with higher product quality and higher grades.

In the past ‘Shishi made fabrics’ were mainly exported to Hong Kong, the Middle East, ASEAN and other countries and regions. However, last year the exports to EU and other developed countries increased. According to the analysis, the reason for export expansion was that Shishi enterprises initiatively took the lead in adopting new technologies, and promoted their fabric quality.
