China : Shaoxing textile exports exceed $7bn in 2006

Exports of Shaoxing city, located in Zhejiang province, stood at US $10.503 billion in 2006. Shaoxing has become the third exporting city after Ningbo and Hangzhou, it exports goods worth more than $10 billion per annum.

Of the above figure, export of textiles comprising yarn, fabrics and finished products as well as garments and clothing accessories reached $7.072 billion, accounting for 67.33 percent of the total export amount. Textile industry has become the foremost trade sector in Shaoxing.

As per latest statistics, Shaoxing’s total import export value reached $13.949 billion last year, an increase of 33.04 percent from 2005. Of this, exports brought $10.503 billion, a rise of 29 percent.
