GERBER SCIENTIFIC (SHANGHAI) CO. LTD. ANNOUNCES NEW APPOINTMENTS TO ITS MANAGEMENT TEAM

 
Tang joined Gerber in 1984 in a regional sales role for Gerber Technology (GT), based in Hong Kong, and later became area sales manager for Southeast Asia. In January 1997, when the company set up direct sales and service operations in Hong Kong, Macau, and China, he was appointed regional director, Far East. In that role, he was instrumental in establishing and growing Gerber's business in China, first through a representative office, then a joint-venture-subsidiary to provide customer service and eventually a wholly foreign-owned enterprise. Tang was appointed GT's regional vice president, Far East in May 2000 and is responsible for its business in 20 countries around the region. In addition to his new responsibilities, Tang will continue in this role.

In his new role as deputy general manager, Eric Huang will have responsibility for the daily functions related to Gerber’s China operations as well as site management of the ATC and various facilities around the country. Huang joined Gerber Scientific, Inc. in Tolland, Conn., USA in September 2001 where he played a key role in various projects related to the company's expansion in China. In September 2004 Huang was appointed manager, logistics and materials management for GSS in Shanghai. In that role, he has expanded Gerber's global partnership with EGL and established TPL Centres in both Shanghai and Hong Kong. Huang has taken the lead role in establishing procedures and managing inventory to support Gerber’s rapidly growing service and parts operations in China; he has also been instrumental in establishing and managing the complex import/export procedures, shipping arrangements and inventory necessary to support the launch of the company’s first China-made products, the Infinity AE plotter and XLc7000 cutter for Gerber Technology and the CMX50 finer/polisher for Gerber Coburn.
