25 June 2007 – Connecticut, U.S.A. – Gerber Technology has appointed Ron Ellis to the position of product manager for multi-ply cutting systems, including Gerber’s controls software products: CutWorks, C200 and CutWorks MPC. Most recently, Ellis served as the product manager for Gerber’s plotter and peripheral (PNP) business. During that time, Gerber introduced the Infinity AE, Infinity AE II, Infinity 45 and Infinity 85 and most recently AccuScan. He will continue to report to Todd Rhodes, director, hardware systems product management.
“For the last 3½ years, Ron’s efforts and leadership have contributed to the overall growth of the PNP business in very competitive market space,” said Rhodes. “His extensive knowledge and understanding of our customers’ requirements will serve him well in his new role.”
Ellis attended East Tennessee State University on a baseball scholarship before entering the US Army as an electronics technician. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he worked at Motorola Corporation and was later hired by Microdynamics, Inc. as their software customer support manager and was promoted to product manager of MicroMark Grading and Marking Software (GMS) in 1992. Following Gerber’s acquisition of Microdynamics, Inc. in 1994, Ellis played a key role in advising and transitioning Gerber from MicroMark to AccuMark, including identifying key customer requirements and migrating some of Gerber’s largest customers from MicroMark to AccuMark.
