China : Anhui home textile industry craves for development

Although Anhui province is known for textile production and has textile consumption worth nearly RMB 20 billion, home textile manufacturing industry is quite weak here, especially since no famous brand comes from this place.

In order to analyze situation of the market, a forum, 'Home Textiles in Changing Life' was organized and suggestions were forwarded by industry experts for the development of this sector.

With people becoming aware and increased living standards, Chinese home textiles, which used to be economic and practical, buyers now look for functional, decoration, healthy, environmental-protection products.

Statistics reveal Anhui province has 656 large textile and clothing enterprises and the total production value in 2006 was 6.713 billion RMB, with a rise rate of 74.9 percent compared to year 2000.
