China : Towel industry takes steps to improve quality

Since March this year, China's towel manufacturers have begun attaching great importance to the quality and brands of towels they make.

This move was the result of a news article by China Central Television which threw light on the dangerous phenomenon called 'poisonous towel' that has harmful substances used in its make. Such towels can have damaging effects on the skin.

Hence, the country's towel makers have woken up to the fact that in order to adapt themselves to domestic and international markets, they will have to apply several quality checks. A rise in living standards and availability of technical expertise put additional pressure on them to achieve this goal.

Lack of proper brand awareness and poor establishment of towel enterprises have long since been the industry's major drawbacks. But now, several domestic towel manufactures, like Grace brand of Grace Group, have started to put things right.
