China : Textile cos switch over to advanced machinery

As part of their drive to upgrade quality of products, many textile enterprises based in Shishi city are discarding old and outdated equipments and buying advanced and sophisticated machinery.

The need for this also arose from the growing competition that textile manufacturers face from clothing enterprises of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other provinces.

Trade barriers imposed by EU, America and other countries on inferior quality Chinese textile products is also a major reason why producers are upgrading textile machinery.

Experts said that the technology drive began when local cloth enterprises developed high-tech fabrics in collaboration with scientific and research institutes.

However, it's only the big clothing and textile brands that are harnessing technology to improve quality of products.
