A gallery to promote the art of traditional Chinese embroidery will soon open in Suzhou city on September 26. It will showcase a variety of outstanding embroideries from around the world.
On its inaugural day, close to 1,000 people, including men, women and children will perform on-the-spot embroidery.
The construction of the gallery, which started in 2005 and covers an area of 8000 square meters, has been planned on the architectural style prevalent in the south of Yangtze River.
Even the halls in the gallery have been decorated with the four famous embroidery styles of China. There is a history hall, an embroidery demonstration hall, a research and development centre as well as other other sections.
Besides some organizations like the Special Embroidery Committee of China Industrial Arts Association, Chinese Gallery of Embroidery Art will also integrate embroidery production and sale.
