China : Imports of carbonized wool & tops drop

　　China Customs Statistics show China's raw wool and top imports in November 2007 were down year-on-year for the fourth consecutive month.

　　In the past four months we have seen successive drops, however China's wool imports in the period from January to November 2007 were still higher compared with the comparable period in 2006.

　　The year-on-year decline in November is consistent with the downward trend in place since August 2007. Greasy wool imports from Australia, which accounted for for all but 6% of total wool imports into China in November, fell solidly year-on-year.

　　Imports of carbonized wool and tops also dropped compared to last year. In contrast, imports of scoured wool lifted massively year-on-year, but from a low base.

　　New Zealand and Uruguayan wool import volumes into China reported mixed results. Imports from New Zealand lifted by year-on-year after three months of declines, while wool imported from Uruguay declined solidly.
