The third Images Fashion Awards (IFA) held recently in Mumbai, in recognition of outstanding performers in the business of retail fashion in India, awarded top-notch industry professionals. These awards were based on a countrywide consumer survey. The IFA Visionary of the Year award went to Ms Simone Tata, Chairperson, Trent Ltd. The IFA Lifetime Achievement Award went to Mr Arvind Lalbhai, Chairman, Arvind Ltd. Mr Gautam Singhania, Chairman and MD of Raymond Ltd, received the IFA award for Raymond Apparel Ltd — adjudged the most admired apparel company of the year. Arrow from the Arvind Group was adjudged the most admired men's shirt brand, while Park Avenue from the House of Raymond emerged as the most admired men's trouser brand for the year 2002. For the third time in a row, Lee, VIP (Maxwell Industries) and Park Avenue were awarded the best jeanswear, innerwear and men's suits brands respectively. Titan bagged the award for best timewear, while Tanishq was adjudged the most admired jewellery brand of the year. Bata emerged the top footwear brand. In the special awards category, Giny & Jony bagged the most admired kidswear brand of the year award, Wills Sport was adjudged the most admired womenswear brand of the year, and Allen Solly's Womenswear was acknowledged for its outstanding launch and remarkable performance. Killer Jeanswear received the 3rd IFA for `outstanding fashion campaign'. IFAs for individual performances based on industry nominations went to H. Ramanathan, former Managing Director of LifeStyle Intrernational (retail professional of the year). Mr Kailash Bhatia of ColorPlus and Mr Chetan Shah of Pepe Jeans were adjudged the most admired brand professionals of the year. LifeStyle International Ltd was adjudged the most admired large format retail chain of the year. The award for most admired exclusive brand retail chain of the year went to Provogue. The IFA for most admired independent retailer of the year went to Benzer.
