Clariant to feature new capability on strength management and sustainable finishes at ITMA Asia + CITME 2010


-Special focus on casual wear, active wear and sportswear finish;
-ETSI system for unparallel strength management 


Shanghai, June 10, 2010 – Clariant will return to the biggest textile event for Asia with a host of technologies and products dedicated to the textile and apparel industry with special focus on casual wear, sportswear and active wear. The show will be held in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre on 22 – 26 June.


Casual wear

Sustainable products and production processes that deliver quality performance and results are increasingly important in the face of growing environmental considerations. Clariant’s competitive Advanced Denim sulphur system for garments and fabric treatment is capable of achieving creative results with wash-downs, coatings and special effects.


Active wear and sportswear

Iincreasingly important segments where consumers are expecting improved comfort and easier care with their garments are active wear and sportwear. During ITMA + CITME, Clariant will showcase special finishes ranging from ‘cool’ moisture wicking treatments in combination with ‘fresh’ antibacterial treatments, as well as combinations of these finishes coupled with either ‘easy-care’ or ‘easy-to-clean’ finishes.


With nano-based technology and C6 chemistry, innovative effects such as self-cleaning, soil and stain release, water repellency, rapid dry and HyDry are achieved with good performance. By adopting some of these special features on the finished garments, impact on the environment is also reduced by having to wash the garment fewer times and with less detergent.

ETSI system for better strength management

Clariant will also be featuring its new ETSI (Enhanced Textile Strength Improvement) system on strength management during ITMA + CITME. Most garments with non-iron or easy-care finish share the common disadvantage of having a short life-cycle as the fabric becomes weak and worn due to the resin finish that provides the easy-care feature. Clariant’s ETSI system overcomes these problems and delivers:


- excellent easy-to-iron effect
- best quality in tensile strength
- tear strength
- abrasion resistance
- extremely low formaldehyde level on the treated fabric


On top of that, the ETSI system also offers a unique soft handle, which is missing with conventional resin systems. On ecological ground, the system provides extra durability that allows the garments to have a longer life cycle even after repeated laundering and ironing. The ETSI system is applicable for all cellulosic fibers, including linen and especially for cotton.


Clariant will be exhibiting at booth C01 located on Hall E3 during the five-day show in Shanghai.
