2010-12-3

As thin as one-tenth of a hair, the thinnest glass fibre has been developed in Chongqing, which can be made to soft e-cloth and widely used in the producing of electronics such as notebooks and high-end mobile phones.

Being the core material of electronics, glass fibre is extracted from tones with silica. Electric circuit board made of thinner glass fibre is softer and slighter, and computers and phones with there boards could not only be more functional but also be more pocket-sized.

In the past, the advanced technology of glass fibre sized less than 5microns was mastered only by US and Japan, which caused high cost of other countries’ high-end electronic products. The development of this 4.1microns thin glass fibre in China means the broken of the monopoly.
