According to the National Bureau of Statistics China's yarn output reached 781,400 tons in March, an increase of 168,200 tons or 27 per cent year on year.
Based on the consumption ratio of 64 per cent, the cotton consumption by yarn production reached 538,500 tons in China in March.
The total output of yarn topped 2.0506 million tons in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 24.6 per cent over last year.
If calculating on the basis of the 2002-2003 cotton year, the combined output of yarn was 4.9088 million tons by the end of March, consuming 3.38 million tons of cotton.
Output of cloth was 1.873 billion meters in March, up 9.1 per cent year on year, adding the total to 5.130 billion meters in the first quarter, up 11.1 per cent.
