Acrylic fiber market remained weak this week. Transactions were relatively dull.
Fiber plants kept running rates at 80% or above and sales were moderate. Their inventories increased somewhat. Downstream plants buying sentiment was low, mostly carrying small volumes to meet short-term needs. There was evident looking-on and bearish sentiment.
Sales of cotton type ASF 1.5D were sluggish, with prevailing prices at 24800-25000yuan/mt. ASF 3D were mostly sold at 24150-24650yuan/mt, acrylic tow at 24850-25100yuan/mt and acrylic top at 25700-26000yuan/mt by cash, ex-East China. Acrylic yarn plants still kept stable running rates, but sales were dull and inventories were increasing. There were worries about the market outlook.
Import market remained quiet. Few plants placed offers and trades were scant. Some downstream plants enquired about acrylic staple fiber prices for Jan. Ordinary acrylic fiber market was dull, with a few tentative enquires. In spot market, cargoes available were mostly anti-pilling acrylic tows. Trading sentiment was moderate. Japan Mitsubishi has not announced Jan offer due to mechanical problem. Toyobo was already sold out, still offering acrylic flat staple fiber at $3350-3400/mt and anti-pilling acrylic at $3350/mt. Thai Acrylic has begun to run at full capacity but no offers have come out yet. Taiwan Donghualong would start turnarounds on its fiber unit soon thus did not place offers. There were rare offers from Thai Acrylic or Turkey plants, either. |

| As acrylic yarn market weakens further, running rates of yarn plants may drop. Therefore, acrylic fiber transactions will become more difficult and prices are expected to keep soft. |
