During the period April 2002 to January 2003 manmade staple fibres exports surged 76.8 percent at Rs 1.64 billion over Rs 931.4 million during the same period in the previous year.
The high growth in the manmade Polyester Staple Fibre (PSF), Viscose Staple Fibre (VSF), Polypropylene Staple Fible (PPSF) and Acrylic Staple Fible(ASF) has been achieved due to the export of these products to new markets including Malaysia, Portugal, Indonesia, UK, Nigeria, France, Canada and Iraq.
Exports of manmade fibres to countries like China, Japan, Mexico, Germany, UAE, Singapore also increased substantially, it said, adding, export of polyester staple fibre to China increased by 473 per cent during the period.
