Iran exports hand-woven carpets worth $444 mn (Iran)

Within a span of 10 months which got over on January 20, 2011, Iran had exported 7,000 tons of hand-woven carpets which amounted to $444 million. The data reflects a hike of 10 percent in weight and 13.5 percent in volume.

The Ministry of Commerce intends to export carpets worth $500 million by the middle of March. Iran mostly exports hand-woven carpets to the US, Germany, Italy, UAE, Lebanon as well as Japan.

Iran is one of the leading carpet exporters of the world. It can further raise its share in the global market by selling carpets at competitive prices in comparison to Indian, Chinese and Pakistani counterparts and also by designing carpets having better patterns and colors as per the global requirement.
