In order to safeguard the domestic industry, the Indian government has imposed anti-dumping duty on glass fibre imports from China.
The duty varies in the range of 7.46 to 40.91 percent on the CIF (cost, insurance and freight) value of imports.
The Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD), a nodal agency under the Commerce Ministry, suggested imposing the same.
The glass fibre finds use in heat resistant fabrics, electrical insulation, and in automobiles.
The duty imposition will remain in effect for a period of five years, from the date of beginning of the provisional duty imposition, that is from July 14, 2010, unless if it is revoked, superseded or amended at a prior occasion.
