Naples, Fla.-based Industrial Nanotech Inc.—a supplier of nanotechnology-based specialty industrial coatings—has introduced Nansulate®EPX, an energy-saving, corrosion- chemical- and flame-resistant protective coating for thermal insulation of pipes, tanks and industrial equipment, including textile equipment such as dyeing machines.
The water-based, low-odor and low-volatile organic compound coating features a two-part epoxy formula that is resistant to acid, base and fuel splashes. It produces a hard, durable finish that withstands humid environments and has a performance temperature range of -40ºF to 450ºF. It can be applied to steam pipes, boilers, valves, heat exchangers, ovens and chilled water pipes, among other equipment. Nansulate EPX may be applied using a texture sprayer, trowel or stiff brush while equipment is operating; and can be used on metal surfaces if primed with Nansulate High Heat primer, as well as on non-metal surfaces.
The coating reduces surface temperatures and heat emitted into the environment by hot equipment. According to Industrial Nanotech, Nansulate EPX offers 20-percent energy savings on average, and a payback time of one year or less.
