Willis & Walker and Marcraft Apparel Group are partnering to build Willis & Walker into a global lifestyle brand. As part of the agreement, the companies will develop the overall strategic direction and brand positioning for this new lifestyle brand and explore growth opportunities both domestically and internationally.
Designed, developed and inspired by former NBA star Kevin Willis, Willis & Walker provides 6’3” and taller, fashion-conscious men with stylish apparel including sportswear, tailored clothing, denim, footwear and accessories. Willis & Walker is the first men’s collection to focus on designer style, fit and variety, key elements which have been missing for most men in this demographic. The partnership between Willis & Walker and Marcraft will launch this distinct collection for Spring 2012 and the brand will be sold in high-end specialty stores and better department stores.
“Finding fashionable clothing in my size has always been a challenge since style options for men considered ‘Big & Tall’ have been underwhelming,” says Kevin Willis, co-owner of Willis & Walker. “I am excited to partner with Marcraft Apparel Group as their expertise and resources provide us an opportunity to bring our vision to reality and create a unique, global brand in an unaddressed market.”
“The men’s Big & Tall business is one of the fastest growing market segments in the retail industry,” commented Gary Brody, President of Marcraft Apparel Group. “There are tremendous opportunities to expand the Willis & Walker brand and capitalize on the potential of creating an entire lifestyle collection.
Kevin Willis has experienced firsthand the need to address this consumer, and together we see the brand potential beyond apparel into other categories including home furnishings, furniture, and accessories (i.e. handbags, luggage, etc).
The two parties originally entered into a licensing agreement in March 2011, where Marcraft Apparel Group is responsible for designing, manufacturing, sourcing and selling of men’s tailored clothing and made-to measure clothing.
