BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Avril Lavigne proves she can do more than singing by staging a fantastic show of her clothing line Abbey Dawn at the New York Fashion Week on Sept. 12, 2011.
It seems that many stars are putting their fashion skills to good use by lauching clothing and accessory lines, and some of them have been succeeded in designing.
Celebrites like Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake have also proven themselves as fashion designers.
Avril Lavigne
With Kylie Jenner presenting her creation on catwalk and Kim Kardashian and other stars watching the show, rock star Avril rocked the runway this time.
The line, named after a childhood nickname from her father, was created three years ago, but Lavigne came up with the initial idea for a clothing line when she was only 19-years-old.
"After the release of my first album, I realized how much fashion was involved in my musical career," Lavigne told The Huffington Post. "With a lot of the designs, I try to tie in some of my lyrics and more musical elements."
Lavigne said that there's a little bit of everything in Abbey Dawn.
"I've had my line for three years now, and I really feel like this is the best season yet," said Lavigne.
"It takes a while to tweak stuff to where I want it to be, but this season is the best yet. I have footwear, swimwear, eyewear, accessories, women and men's collections. I've done Fashion Week before, but this year it's going to be even better."
Jennifer Lopez
Lopez launched an entire range of clothes and accessories way back in 2003. The "JLO by Jennifer Lopez" included casual jeans, T-shirts, coats, belts, purses and lingerie.
She also retails a jewellery line and has an accessory line that boasts of hats, gloves and scarves.
She even kickstarted a new clothing line called Sweetface, followed by a new juniors' line called JustSweet in 2007.
Victoria Beckham
Victoria created her own line of jeans for clothing brand Rock & Republic in 2004. Later, she graduated to launch her own denim brand with the name dVb Style and now she is more popular as a designer than as a singer.
Madonna
Pop queen Madonna launched her fashion line in collaboration with Swedish clothing company Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) in 2007.
She then collaborated with her daugter Lourders to creat 2010 juniors' line for Macy's called "Material Girl."
Jessica Simpson
Jessica Simpson created her own collection of jeans. She worked with the Camuto Group and Jones Apparel Group Inc on the range.
Justin Timberlake
No one can image that Justin would become a fashion designer until he paired with his friend Trace Ayala to launch William Rast label. Their clothing lines are presented every season and attract attention of Timberlake’s fans and models.
Gwen Stefani
Stefani began designing her own fashionable clothes from the early age. She created L.A.M.B. fashion line that is now loved by millions of people.
