Digital printing application for Newlife

2012-2-1
ALBA - CCS Digital Fabric GmbH, a large format, digital textile printer manufacturer and textile firm Awitex has developed a new fabric made using Newlife yarns from Filature Miroglio.

The Newlife yarns, which are made of recycled polyester which is 100% derived from the post-consumer PET waste such as plastic bottles, have been used in the development of CCSPET Fabric which is said to be ideal for water-based digital printing products for retail applications.

The CCSPET Newlife range of fabrics is said to include “pin-sharp” graphics, excellent colour vibrancy on large printed surfaces and superior output quality comparable to paper, foil or photochemical products with even better contrast performance. Additional applications for the fabric could include noise reducing textile surfaces, non-reflecting and fade-resistant textiles, CCS said.

“Following an initial introduction phase earlier this year, we have now switched our entire reflective pictures production to Newlife fabrics.” said Peter Zöller, managing director of CCS. “We are proud to be able to deliver the same quality, at the same price, with the added benefit of providing our customers with a product such as Newlife that enhances their environment balance without compromising on performance.”

The Newlife range is available in a range of counts and includes POY, flat, textured, microfibre and hollow section yarns for a wide variety of applications such as fashion, sportswear, outdoor, furnishing, contract and accident prevention textiles.

According to Miroglio, the entire process is OekoTex certified and has also obtained the Plastica Seconda Vita trademark, issued by the Istituto Italiano dei Plastici (I.I.P).

Miroglio has previously said it aims to convert its whole range of virgin PET yarns to its Newlife brand by 2015. It will make this announcement officially at this month’s Techtextil exhibition in Frankfurt.
