Bangladesh garment exports to Mainland China grew 179 percent |

According to the statistics of Bangladesh garment export industry, in 2009-2010 fiscal year, Bangladesh's apparel exports to mainland China registered US $18.95 million in total, while in 2010-2011 fiscal year, total garment exports grew to US $52.81 million, a growth rate as high as 179 percent.
Insiders said, apparel exports to mainland China was only US $9.49 million in 2008-2009 fiscal year, the data show that mainland China is an emerging market, which has great potential for Bangladesh's garment industry.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) points out that mainland China has been developing towards high-tech industries, labor-intensive traditional industries have been gradually eliminated, China has to import cheap consumer goods from abroad, while Bangladesh clothing industry just owns such advantage, in addition, Bangladesh garment exports to mainland China enjoy tax breaks.
The industry is optimistic on its exports to China; it expects that Bangladesh garment exports to Mainland China will grow to hundreds of millions of dollars in the next five years.
