Condemning the additional one-day weekly gas cut, Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) has urged the Government to put on hold the new gas loadshedding plan for the benefit of the textile industry, which was already facing challenges.
PTEA Chairman Rana Arif Tauseef said the textile industry is already facing problems owing to two-day weekly off in gas supply and long power cuts.
The textile industry has been pleading the Government to end the two-days a week gas closure. But the Government has worsened the situation by proposing an additional one-day gas suspension, he added.
He said the new gas suspension plan would not only hinder the industrial growth in the country, but also put the jobs of more than 15 million workers as well as the country’s exports at stake.
Mr. Tauseef termed the new gas loadshedding plan as a death knell for the country’s value-added textile industry and urged the Government to intervene and provide uninterrupted gas supply to textile industry.
