Shuyang Becomes Largest Production Base for Covered Yarn

With a number of projects being set up, Shuyang Economic Development Zone in Jiangsu Province has become the world largest production base for covered yarn.

Over the past few years, Shuyang Economic Development Zone has attracted a number of covered yarn production enterprises and downstream processing enterprises, including Jiangsu Jiade Fiber Technology Co., Ltd, with an investment of CNY 200 million, Jiangsu Yueyuan Fiber Technology Co., Ltd. with an investment of CNY 1.5 billion and Jiangsu Baonasi Knitting Co., Ltd. with an investment of CNY 1 billion. At present, there are 13 covered yarn producers in Shuyang Economic Development Zone, with 3,400 sets of machines and annual production of 80,000 tons and there are also 36 sub-suppliers. It has become the largest covered yarn production base in the world in terms of both production equipment and output.

The covered yarn business in Shuyang Economic Development Zone started from 2005. By making efforts to inviting covered yarn producers and associated enterprises, the economic zone has developed an intensive covered yarn industry. In 2012, Jiangsu Bangyuan Textile Co., Ltd., together with other partners, invested CNY 1 billion in setting up Jiangsu Bangyuan New Materials Co., Ltd. With annual sales revenue of CNY 500 million and paying taxes of more than CNY 20 million, this company is now the largest single producer of covered yarn in China and also in the world.
