The exports of textiles and apparel by Spain increased by 33.1 percent year-on-year to ?47.6 million in May 2013, according to the data released by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
This is the second consecutive month to witness more than 30 percent rise in exports, as textile exports rose 32.3 percent year-on-year in April 2013.
The sharp rise in textile exports during May was much above the 7.3 percent year-on-year growth registered in overall Spanish exports.
In the clothing sub-group, exports soared by 46.8 percent year-on-year to ?25.1 million, during the month.
From January to May 2013, Spanish textile exports grew by 17.2 percent year-on-year, with the apparel sub-group showing a rise of 23.1 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, textile and garment imports by Spain also increased during May 2013, despite weak domestic consumption.
Spanish textile imports jumped 16.4 percent year-on-year to ?.113 billion during the month, with clothing imports growing at 19.8 percent year-on-year to ?80.8 million.
