Apparel industry is an ever changing sector and it requires right merchandising strategies to succeed in the competitive world. Here some industry representatives talk about the most important elements needed for success in garment business.
Mr. Paul Magel, president of application solutions at CGS, a leading global provider of end-to end, technology-enabled business solutions, told fibre2fashion, “In today’s competitive environment, a clothing company without adaptation, innovation and capital cannot be successful.”
According to Dr. Andreas Seidl, CEO of Human Solutions, software solutions provider for clothing and other sectors, innovation is a main theme in the success of a garment business.
Mr. Philip Moylan, sales and marketing manager at Eurostop, a leading supplier of retail management and EPOS solutions for the fashion industry, says, “I would recommend capital investment in new shops for retailers who sell seasonal and fashion-based merchandise.”
“Internet sales has only had a slight effect on fashion-based apparel that is replaced every season as customers wish to try on multiple garments in a shop before a decision is made,” he adds.
However, Mr. Magel says, “A company that does not adapt to a changing world will fail. In order to adapt, a company will need capital. Even adoption for a company with set processes needs innovation of their business.”
“On the other side, a company that innovates and comes up with a new way to do things or a better design needs capital to bring it to market and will need to adapt to their business partners’ practices in order to deliver the goods,” he concludes.
Thus, the success of clothing business does not depend on one factor. It requires adaptation, innovation and capital to stand out in today’s competitive world.
