The Spanish textiles Export Price Index (IPRIX), for the month of January 2014 showed a decline of 0.7 percent, compared to the same month in 2013, as per the data released by National Institute of Statistics in Spain.
According to the INE data, the IPRIX of overall exports from Spain also incurred a decrease of 3.5 percent in the month of January 2014 compared to the same month in 2013. The total IPRIX recorded in January is eight tenths lower than the IPRIX registered in December 2013.
However, the IPRIX in the sector of manufacture of garments registered an increase of 0.8 percent in January 2014, compared to the same month last year.
Meanwhile, the Import Price Index (IPRIM) data from the INE reveals that the IPRIM of the textile industry in Spain has also registered a decline of 1.6 percent year-on-year in January 2014.
The IPRIM registered in the manufacture of garment sector of Spain also dipped by 2.7 percent in the month of January, compared to the same month last year.
The IPRIM of the overall Spanish imports recorded a plunge of 2.5 percent year-on-year in the month of January, same as the decrease in IPRIM registered during the previous month.
The IPRIX measures the change in prices of industrial products manufactured in Spain for export to other countries, on a monthly basis, whereas the IPRIM indicates the monthly changes in prices of industrial products imported by Spain from other countries.
