Cashmere World 2014 to begin from Sep 25

Preparations are underway for the Cashmere World 2014 which will be held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 25 to 27 September. The fair is dedicated to cashmere and other luxurious fibres. 

 

As it has become the tradition, a forum will be taking place simultaneously. This year, Cashmere World’s organisers have invited a number of cashmere professionals to be part of an Advisory Committee whose mission is to develop an enlightening and meaningful program and to help select the most knowledgeable speakers.

 

“Our goal is not only to enlighten the participants of the Forum but also to contribute to propelling the industry to another level”, indicated the Director of Cashmere World, Perrine Ardouin.

 

Cashmere World has been held every year for five years and each session presents evidence that the trade is divided about several major issues. Whether establishing a global Cashmere Quality Mark is necessary, whether stringent formal grading should be determined, and the questions regarding the selection and application of suitable and sustainable technologies are among the prevalent discussions during the event. 

 

The members of the Advisory Committee come from different backgrounds and include scientists, anthropologists, breeders, buyers, traders and fashion designers. Their accumulated experience and knowledge represent an unprecedented wealth of expertise that should benefit the whole trade. 

 

The Advisory Committee includes Carol Kerven, Founder and Director of the UK-based Odessa Centre; Alessandra Cocchi, Managing Director of EastMax Fashion in Hong Kong; Nora Kravis, Director of Chianti Cashmere in Italy; David Lee, Director of Cashmere Fibres in the UK; Karl Spilhaus, President of Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute (CCMI); Ronnie Lamb, International Cashmere Consultant and Abdul Basir Otak, President of Herati Cashmere in Afghanistan.

 

In addition to the Forum, the latest cashmere and other luxurious fibres, fashion and color trends from all over the world will be presented.
