2015-3-20
Chinese sportswear brand Li Ning and the producer of popular wearable fitness tracker Mi band, Huami Technology (also known as Xiaomi), have come together to develop a line of smart running shoes which allows runners to keep track of their exercise progress and results, analyse their running technique and track milestones achieved.
The new next-gen features a smart chip which has been fed with data collected from runners in China and results from professional tests performed in the athleticwear label’s sports experiment centre.
Embedded in the shoe’s sole, the chip provides professional and tailored recommendations based on data collected from the runner’s steps, posture and activity.
Speaking on the collaborative venture, general manager of Li Ning Company’s Running Division, said in a press release, “We have chosen to collaborate with the Mi band because of Huami Technology’s strength in ‘smart’ wearable products. We hope to use this opportunity to provide professional ‘smart’ running shoes to running enthusiasts in China at an affordable price.”
Huami Technology’s Beijing Division general manager said, “We highly value our collaboration with Li Ning. Our vision is to improve people’s lives bringing together their day-to-day activities with the Internet. We hope this collaboration will bring better and more revolutionary new products for all consumers.”
“The initial batch of smart running shoes will come in two choices. One is an upgraded smart version of Furious Rider, a high-function and popular running shoe, with improved details in over 50 areas of the shoe. The other smart running shoe will be in a brand new design, and will be offered at an extremely affordable price, to allow everybody in China to purchase a pair of comfortable and professional smart running shoes,” added the head of Li Ning Company Running Division, Footwear
