Euro zone construction production up by 1.9 pct in January |

Seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector grew by 1.9 percent in the 18-nation euro zone and by 1.0 percent in the 28-nation European Union (EU) in January compared with the previous month, figures from Eurostat showed on Wednesday.
The building construction, which rose by 2.3 percent, and civil engineering, which grew by 0.2 percent, contributed to the expansion in the euro zone, according to the European Union (EU) statistics office Eurostat.
In the EU, building construction rose by 1.3 percent, while civil engineering fell by 0.7 percent.
On a yearly basis, production in construction grew by 3.0 percent in the euro area and by 1.4 percent in the EU.
Among EU member states, the highest increases in production in construction were observed in Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany, and the largest decreases in Romania, the United Kingdom and Bulgaria.
