In January, China's exports of real silk commodities totaled US$ 298.87 million, down 15.61% year-on-year, according to China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textile and Apparel. But meanwhile, the exports of silk garment and silk made-up goods from Sichuan Province increased significantly in terms of both quantity and value.
In January, the export of silk dropped 8.87% year-on-year to about US$ 57.52 million, the export of silk fabric dropped 24.38% to US$ 78.36 million, and the export of silk made-up goods rose 54.54% to US$ 162.99 million. The top five export destinations are the United States, Italy, India, Pakistan and Japan, who cover 47.25% of China's total exports of real silk commodities.
In January, China exported more than 9.69 million pieces (sets) of silk garment, down 20.82% from a year earlier. The export amounted to about US$ 117.73 million, down 11.35%. The export of silk garment from Sichuan Province rose dramatically 57.56% year-on-year to 86,000 pieces (sets), which amounted to US$ 7.61 million, up 76.28%. China's export of silk made-up goods dropped by 22.42% year-on-year to about 18.27 million pieces (sets), it amounted to US$ 162.99 million, down 13.03%. The export of silk made-up goods from Sichuan Province stood at near 2.29 million pieces (sets), up 41.19% year-on-year; it amounted to US$ 10.04 million, up 57.6%.
