During the month of July exports of Pakistan declined as compared to that of June 2003. The exports from Pakistan during July 2003 amounted to Rs.51,393 million as against Rs.65,522 million in June 2003 showing a decrease of 21.56 per cent.
In terms of dollars also the country''s exports declined by 21.56 per cent in July as the total exports that month amounted to $890,034 thousands compared to $1134, 717 thousands of June last, says a provisional report prepared by federal bureau of statistics. The exports registered an increase of 5.25 percent however as compared to that of July 2002 which was Rs.48, 829 million in terms of rupee and $816,659 thousands in terms of dollar which is 8.98 per cent over.
The main commodities of exports during July 2003 were bed wear Rs.6711 million, knitwear Rs. 6557 million, cotton cloth Rs.5692 million, readymade garments Rs.5345 million, cotton yarn Rs.3836 million, art silk and synthetic textile Rs.2899 million, made up articles Rs.1955 million, towels Rs.1617 million and leather garments Rs.1208 million.
