Hong Kong : Clothing Retailer Withdraws Nazi-Themed Apparel |
2003-8-15
A Hong Kong clothing retailer which sparked outrage by selling a line of apparel featuring Nazi symbols and a picture of Adolf Hitler, on Tuesday withdrew the controversial fashions from its shelves.
The firm, which operates 14 stores under the Internet banner izzue.com, had earlier been blasted by angry Israeli and German diplomats who accused it of insensitivity over the line and associated store decorations.
A company spokeswoman said: "We don''t want to upset anybody. We were a bit politically insensitive. We don''t wish to make any race unhappy about it."
